Let's Talk About WiFi
What is WiFi? WiFi is a wireless network connection method between the device you're using and a router in your home.
Many consumers think the product they buy from an Internet Service Provider such as White Cloud is called "WiFi", and thanks to bad marketing from other providers, people now use WiFi as a generic term for all things related to an internet connection (even their cellphone data service).
We sell Internet Service to your home (like the power company sells electricity but not the wiring from the meter to your refrigerator). Our service to your house may be fed by our cable drop to your home into a modem, or by a fixed wireless connection to an antenna on your roof.
Your WiFi enabled devices don't connect to our service, they connect to the router in your home. Then the router connects to our service to pass the data to/from the internet using our network.
Most of the service complaints we receive are related to issues between the customers devices (tablets, smart TV's, mobile phones, laptops, smart speakers, etc) and the router, not with the service we provide to the home. You may need a better router, or may just have a device in your network crashing the connection for everything else.
We do provide a router built into our cable modems, or we can rent you a separate one BUT it may not be the best for your application. When this is the case, we can make some recommendations - just give us a call!
